Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Police then found numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials state early analysis show the fluid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.
A senior representative commented the attack rendered him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
